Hydraulic Cylinder and General Pump Repairs

The Power That Moves Your Vessel: Comprehensive Hydraulic Cylinder and Pump Overhaul Services

Countless critical operations on your vessel, from the steering system to deck cranes, from hatch covers to winches, derive their power from the flawless operation of hydraulic cylinders and various pumps. In these systems, which operate continuously under pressure, wear on seals, rod damage, and internal pump performance losses that occur over time lead to leaks, power loss, and operational disruptions. As İntermak, by performing all types of maintenance, repair, and overhaul of this vital equipment—which is the muscle and circulatory system of your vessel—in our expert workshop, we restore your systems to their original reliability and efficiency.

  • Assessment and Disassembly: The process begins with the reception of the hydraulic cylinder or pump to be repaired at our workshop. For hydraulic cylinders, the piston rod’s straightness and surface (chrome) condition are checked first, and the sealing elements and overall condition are inspected. For pumps, bearing clearances, sealing condition, and general physical condition are assessed. Following this initial assessment, the equipment is systematically and carefully disassembled to gain access to all internal parts.
  • Analysis and Component Inspection: All disassembled parts are meticulously cleaned using chemical and mechanical methods. In hydraulic cylinders; the piston rod’s surface and diameter measurements, the condition of the cylinder bore (honing surface), and all sealing element grooves are inspected in detail. In pumps; all critical parts such as impellers, gears, screw sets, bearings, mechanical seals, and internal housing wear plates are checked with micron-precision measuring instruments, and their wear conditions are reported.
  • Repair and Assembly: Based on the analysis results, the repair process begins. For hydraulic cylinders; bent piston rods are straightened in special presses, while rods with damaged surfaces are restored to their original dimensions through hard chrome plating and grinding. The cylinder barrels are honed to bring the surface quality to the ideal condition. Subsequently, all seals and sealing elements are replaced with new, high-quality ones to complete the assembly. In pumps; worn bearings, mechanical seals, and internal elements (impellers, gears, etc.) are replaced with new ones, damaged housings are repaired, and all parts are assembled in accordance with manufacturer tolerances.
  • Testing and Delivery: Every overhauled piece of equipment undergoes rigorous testing to verify its performance. Hydraulic cylinders are pressurized on a special test stand up to 1.5 times their working pressure to test their sealing (leak-tightness) and functionality. Pumps are operated at their original speeds on a test unit to measure their flow rate and pressure generation capacity; vibration and sealing conditions are checked. Equipment that successfully passes the tests is dispatched ready for assembly.
  • Comprehensive Reporting: A detailed service report is issued for every completed repair job. This report includes the equipment’s pre-repair condition, the analysis and findings, a list of all parts replaced during the repair, and most importantly, the Test Certificate containing the results of the final pressure and performance tests. This report is an official guarantee, documenting the quality of the repair and the equipment’s compliance with standards.
