Cargo Crane, Winch, Mechanical and Hydraulic System Maintenance and Overhaul
Uninterrupted Power and Safety in Deck Operations: Comprehensive Deck Machinery Overhaul
A vessel’s commercial efficiency in port and its safety at anchor or alongside depend directly on the performance of critical machinery on its deck, such as cranes and winches. These complex mechanical and hydraulic systems, which are constantly exposed to heavy loads and harsh sea conditions, can lead to costly delays (demurrage) and serious safety risks even with the slightest failure. As İntermak, we ensure the uninterrupted and safe continuation of your operations by providing holistic maintenance and overhaul services covering all mechanical and hydraulic components of your vessel’s deck machinery.
- Assessment and Disassembly: The process begins with our expert team coming to your vessel to perform on-site functional tests of the deck machinery. The operational performance of the cranes and winches is observed under no-load and/or loaded conditions; hydraulic system pressures are measured, and abnormal noises, vibrations, and leaks are checked. In accordance with the assessment or planned maintenance schedule, main components designated for overhaul, such as gearboxes, hydraulic pumps, motors, and brake systems, are carefully disassembled and transferred to our workshop.
- Analysis and Component Inspection: Mechanical parts (gears, shafts, bearings, brake linings) that arrive at our workshop are cleaned and subjected to NDT methods for crack and wear testing. Hydraulic parts (pumps, motors, valves) are completely disassembled in our specialized hydraulic workshop, where their internal elements (pistons, seals, gaskets, etc.) are measured with micron-level precision and their wear conditions are analyzed. This detailed analysis draws the roadmap for the repair.
- Repair and Assembly: Based on the analysis results, worn mechanical gears and shafts are repaired or renewed; all bearings, housings, and seals are replaced with new ones as standard. Brake linings and discs are renewed. All internal wear parts of hydraulic pumps and motors are replaced using original OEM-quality repair kits. All overhauled parts are reassembled with high precision in a clean environment, in accordance with original assembly diagrams and tolerances.
- Testing and Delivery: After all overhauled components are installed on the vessel, the system’s final testing phase begins. First, the entire hydraulic system is thoroughly cleaned using special “flushing” units and filled with new hydraulic oil. The system pressures and safety valves are precisely set according to manufacturer data. The machinery is operated under no load to test all functions (hoisting, lowering, slewing, etc.). After the holding capacity of the brakes and the overall operational performance of the system are meticulously verified, the system is handed over to the vessel’s crew.
- Comprehensive Reporting: For each completed project, a detailed service report is prepared that transparently documents all procedures performed. This report includes: the initial assessment findings, details of the mechanical and hydraulic overhauls carried out in the workshop, a list of all replaced parts, and the system’s final pressure setting values. This report serves as an official record of the interventions performed on your deck machinery and its current operational status.
